Wakapa Academy is doing great things!
Wakapa Academy is about to finish their 3rd semester as an alternative school here in Buhl. Last year, 10 students, who otherwise may have not graduated, finished successfully. This year, we are set to graduate another 12 students. Total enrollment is currently up to 30 with the majority being underclassmen. Catching students early, as they first begin to fall behind, is a great way to ensure success.
Every term, Wakapa holds a Student Showcase Open House in which parents and community members are invited to see the work students have accomplished over the previous term. This term, the student showcase will be held Wednesday, December 19 from 6:30-7:00 PM. We will also be holding our incentive drawing. Each week that students had perfect attendance and all passing grades with no missing assignments, their name was entered into the drawing. On Wednesday night, we will be drawing for a brand new iPad generously donated by one of our teachers.
Spirit week has been a lot of fun with students dressed in “Slack Spirit” on Monday, “School Spirit” on Tuesday, “Christmas Spirit” on Wednesday, and “Professional Spirit” on Thursday (when they deliver their term project presentations).
All in all, it’s been a great start to the school year and we’re hoping that the school will continue to be an asset to the community of Buhl for years to come!
