Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Community Members:
Spring is here; everyone is rested from spring break, and excitement is in the air as we continue to learn. As always, we greatly appreciate the combined efforts of all as we support our students in successfully meeting the highest of standards set before them!
As we enter the month of April, our students and staff continue their learning of the core standards. We have approximately one week remaining before our spring state assessments begin. It is very important that our students are present each day and actively participate in the learning taking place. During the testing window, please be sure to support your child by having him/her at school on time each morning, well rested and please continue to encourage your child to try his/her best.
In addition to our state assessments, there are a few additional dates and events to highlight. First, our fourth grade students are immersed in Idaho history. They will heighten their learning on April 17th as they participate in a Mountain Man Assembly. Our late start Mondays begin again on April 15, 2019. They will continue through May 13, 2019. These late starts are used for professional development for all educators.
Kindergarten orientation will be held April 17, 2019, at Popplewell Elementary from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunization records that night.
This time of year also brings warmer weather for children to go outside and enjoy. Children will play on the playground and play games around the building as part of their educational day. Playing is an important part of a child's education. Please remember to have your child wear sneakers so she/he has a safe experience outside.
In closing. I want to thank each of you for your ongoing support of our students, our staff, and our mission at Popplewell Elementary School.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Cooper
Principal, Popplewell Elementary
